GW said there were TWO

I don't think I've shared this story before...

Shortly after we found out we were expecting we decided to tell the boys at dinner one night. I had not been to the doctor yet and although we joked about it being twin girls we were SURE it was just one and most likely a boy. {grin} Anyway... we played a guessing game with the boys, giving them clues and such until they guessed correctly. They thought it was a puppy, kitten, our dog was preggo... and then they finally figured it out. They were THRILLED!

Later that night Gavin was talking to Paul and said "there are TWO babies in mom's belly" He was around 3 1/2 years old. We had never talked about anyone having more than one baby at a time... they didn't know anyone... and they had never seen twins before. Paul laughed and told Gavin that there was no way there were 2 babies in there.

over the next few weeks Gavin brought it up again and we asked him why he thought there were 2 babies in there {expecting to hear that I was getting big or such.. because I was} but no... he said Jesus told him. I decided that since having twin girls had been a joke since I was preggo with Grayson I would just get online and look up symptoms and such. I even took a 'twin' test... and nope... no signs, nothing, and according to the twin test I had a .05% chance of having twins. So okay... it WAS just a joke.. not a sign from God or anything. {Grin}

11 weeks preggo and I finally went to my OB to 'confirm' my due date of my ONE little baby. I thought that I was around 16 weeks preggo and since this was my 5th pregnancy I was going to get bigger quicker anyway. When my OB walked into the room we chatted a bit and then she said "let's see how many babies are in there".. we had not talked about twins and she normally doesn't say things like that. So anyway... she turns the u/s on and what do you know... right away there are 2 little blobs. She started laughing...
"Oh my, there are 2 in there". I just giggled... somewhere deep inside I KNEW it. I knew God was going to give us twins and GIRLS. From that moment I felt very confident they were girls. I was so at peace because I knew they were girls... even without seeing it.

through out my pregnancy we would occasionally talk about how Gavin KNEW that there were 2 babies in there and he told us the story over and over again how Jesus told him and a few times he would say "they are girls too"

who would have thought!
TWO... GIRLS!
and we had joked about it for years...

  8. Isnt it amazing the things kids seem to know. When I was pregnant with our third my oldest who was 3.5 at the time was convinced we were having a girl... If we told him that - hey buddy- there is a chance you could have another baby brother....he would get so mad because he didnt want another brother.lol. Then the day of my US came and we took the boys in with us. It was just amazing.he knew what everything on the US machine was(and were not talking the fancy 3D ultrasounds...the good old ones where I can barely tell what Im looking at 3 babies later.lol.) Look at His face! Look at His toes...and so on.I was shocked because up until that day he always refered to the baby as a girl...and a few minutes later the US tech confirmed he was right. Apparently he just needed to see his brother and he knew. It was just so strange. They're so intuitive sometimes :)

  9. lol That's awesome! I've heard of kids telling their moms they were pg before the mom even knew. That's so cool that he knew you were having twins and that they were girls. He'll be able to brag about the rest of his life. =)

  10. What a perceptive little guy you have. And thank goodness, he was right! Gosh, I cannot even express how beautiful those babies are - it makes me want another one. All of your children are beautiful, but how awesome is it having two identical, beautiful, little GIRLS?
    Enjoy every moment!

  13. I think little kids are so much more open to hearing God. I really do. I completely believe Gavin when he said God told him. I think that is just the most precious story ever! How blessed are you??? ;)

  14. Hmmm... I didn't always say they were boys. My closest friends would agree that I had a strong feeling they were girls. I did have the thought that they could be boys just because we didn't know for sure and the idea of having 2 girls after 4 boys was just surreal.

  15. The same thing happened with us. I had an early u/s that showed one baby. When we told the kids my oldest (5 at the time), she said there were 2. I said no, we definitely are not......but, we were. :)

  18. Look at those beautiful girls and those scrumptious cheeks :) Makes you want to nibble all the time I bet! Great story by the way. With my 1st I knew I was having a boy about 2 weeks after I found out I was pregnant. Just a feeling and noone could make me change my mind. The second and third times I was pregnant it was my son who told me he was having sisters. He was right!

  19. The sweetest girls in the sweetest sleepers throughout the sweetest story - just what I needed on a night where we're all suffering from colds and a bad case of the crabbies.

Thanks for putting a smile on my face Brittany. :)
    Have a great weekend!

  22. Great story. I remember when my oldest was about 4 & I was expecting baby #2. His preschool teacher pulled me aside one day & asked if we were having a boy? I said we didn't know - we weren't finding out. Ben had told her that he was having a baby brother named Gavin (or something like that). He did end up with a brother but his name ended up being Nathan. ;-) It's neat how they just "know" this stuff & I love how your son said "Jesus told him." I'm sure that's exactly what happend. Love it.

  26. Aren't kids amazing? They have such sweet and innocent insight and the ablity to hear Jesus so clearly without questioning it. We have a similar story with our twins and my oldest son, Hunter. Since we were getting ready to adopt a baby, (or accept through foster care) and Hunter prayed every night for his "baby sister that is in someone else's belly" and to "let her know how much we love her already" and then one night he just added " and thank you for the baby brother that is in there too" My husband and I just looked at each other (him somewhat accusingly like I planted this idea in Hunter's mind) and we asked him what he was talking about and he said "Jesus is giving us two babies, a brother and a sister" Being adoption through the foster care system, we did not know what baby we would recieve until we recieved the call, and when they said they had twins for us and wanted to know if we would take them, I told Hunter and he just said, "yeah I know"
    They are so sweet.

  27. Precious! It is amazing what kids know... and how they know it! Before we knew ANYTHING except that we were pregnant, Maggie (she had just turned four) was asked if she wanted a brother or a sister... she proudly informed the questioner that there were two girls in Mama's belly. What?? We didn't think anything of it until our first ultrasound... she was right about the TWO... then lo and behold, she was right about the GIRLS as well! :)

  28. Such a sweet story. The little ones know more than we do sometimes! Glad they came out alright! :) I wouldn't trade my set for the world.

  29. I love things like that! Our son, when he was about preschool age talked to us several times about what it was like 'before' he was born. About knowing God & how he helped God choose us to be his parents. We were just totally thrown for a loop. But the really kicker was the day he told us about how he knew my Grandpa from heaven. I said "You mean you know about my Grandpa who was in heaven. He got upset with me and said "No! I met him there...you know the one with no hair & the puffy grey dog. And he likes to fish. I KNOW him." Talk about WOW!

  35. We had a similar experience with our daughter who is 7. She was adament that there was more than one baby right from the begining, we were just as adament that there was only one baby. Needless to say when twins were confirmed we had to eat our words ;-)

I really enjoy your site, my b/g twins were born in July 2008 as well. Your girls are beautiful.

  39. My four year old told us before we were pregnant that we were having two babies. It is amazing what those little ones know! Should have listened to her and been prepared! Low and behold there were two! We could hardly wait to find out what the babies were and again our four year old was right, she said we were having a boy and a girl! That is exactly what the ultrasounds said! Now, if she could confirm the actual date of arrival of these two sweet babies I would be so happy!(-:
Your girls are just beautiful and I could just look at thier pictures for hours!
May God continue to bless your sweet family!

  43. I was just going back through reading some of these older posts & saw this one. I had to tell you my story too.

My son @ the age of 3 kept begging us for a sister. Now in Hubby's family it's almost all boys so we anticipated a boy. When we found out I was pregnant I was sure it was a boy but not my son. He kept talking to his sister.

When she was born I was shocked to say the least. (we didn't want to know) but not my Nikolas. Instead the first thing he said when he saw her was "she looks like a beautiful flower girl". When looking through the baby names (we knew what we wanted but were looking up spellings which is a whole nother story!) we found the name "Hanae" (pronounced Ha Na). This is a Japanese name meaning beautiful flower. Not only did my son know what we were having but he also named her!

  44. Your little boy must have the gift of perception. Have you every read about spiritual gifts? Have you noticed him perceive other things? Beautiful story.

  45. Before knowing anything about my pregnancy or about the fact that babies grow in bellies, my 2 year old would point to my stomach and say "Baby." He's also randomly state, "Mama baby tummy."

When I'd ask him, "What did you say? I have a baby in my stomach?" he'd get a blank look on his face, as if he snapped out of a trance, and say, "What? No... I don't know."
