we colored the walls

oh yes, we finally {after 2 1/2 years} painted the house
....the farmhouse
....the hunters house
....the old house
....the tiny house
it goes by many names.

the boys {all 4} share a room
it's a bit crowded
and it's been a challenge to organize
but it's been fun to fill the room with them.
they have each brought their own style and passions into the room
along with their colors.
Which was why the walls needed to be neutral. {grin}

we loved and miss{ed} the color of our bedroom in our last home
so we painted it the same color
it's so nice to have it back.
{you can see our old bedroom here and here}

and now... finally now that they are 3
the girls have their first painted {girly} room
the house needed painted
we needed to switch rooms
and it's been a long 6 weeks working on the house
and we're not even done yet
but I am so happy to have color back in our home again

and since the paint is already out
...I have a list of furniture to paint too!
like a hot pink dresser for the girls
{that needs knobs still but I am not sure what I want on there}

I'll share more pictures as we finish
we're still cleaning mildew from the basement
moving rooms around
painting walls, furniture and floors

this is not an ideal to be working on the house
and trust me if our basement didn't flood and mildew
and our bedroom wasn't down there
we would not be doing this
....so I guess I should be thankful for the mess, huh!

this and that...

I've been cooking a lot of this lately
...it's quick
easy
and healthy.

do you know what it is?

The girls love taking baths...
and it keeps them contained and clean
it's a win-win
especially when big brother can help watch them
...while I pack! {grin}

we are going to get more of this...
I think it's thrilling
...but not good for moving.

all {but a few} of our dishes are packed...
we are officially moving.

better get back to packing....
it will be over soon.
and then maybe my blog won't be so boring! {grin}

last hurrah

...in the supersaucer

when we left last summer
...the girls were still playing in their supersaucers.

when we came home this winter
...they were walking, running little girls
...who were not interested in their supersaucers.

I have a thing for these contraptions
...I could care less about swings, bouncy seats, bumbo seats, tummy mats and so on.

So we had to have one last hurrah
...before they left for their new homes.

it was fun
now it's over
but i'll always have this picture!
and all of the memories
...of the girls playing
while I worked in the kitchen.

happy memories
happy times
...that I will always remember!

advice

I really don't have time to sit down and write right now. I should be sitting on the family room floor, taking care of the pile of books that I pulled from the book shelf to sort through. I sat down with 2 boxes, one labeled Keep and one labeled Give. First I sorted by condition, the worn ones can be given away and we'll keep the new looking ones. Then I felt bad for giving away ripped books and started looking through the box only to realize that most of the worn books were worn from loving hands and they must be kept. So then I started sorting them again, only this time I was looking at the titles and skimming through. I added more books to the favorite pile. As I was sorting I realized that I had board books, chapter books, homeschool books and children books all mixed together. So, shouldn't they all be packing into separate boxes? I thought so, so I quickly resorted my already sorted, twice, piles and made 5 nice piles around me.

sounds like it's going well, right...

Then Eliza trotted in, soon followed by her sister and they decided to start picking up the books and tossing them like discs across the room. All of my efforts to protect my piles were unproductive. The girls left the room as quickly as they had run in and I was left sitting in a pile of once again, unsorted books. At this time I decided that my book sorting time was officially over and I was ready to either pack them all or give them all away!

so I came to blog, and ask you...

do you have any packing tips for me?

anything from box tips, organizing, sorting, giving away, selling, occupying the children... any advice.

well, any helpful advice that is {grin}
