late night talking

Our mild winter is gone
and the usual harsh, frozen North Dakota winter is here.
It's -14 degrees with a wind chill of -35.
brrrrrrrr.

I love the way it looks driving over the pass on the way to town.
Makes me think of the Arctic...
frozen water on both sides
...nothing to be seen for miles.
It is truly gorgeous.

We are almost ready for our big trip.
It will only be a few days now before we are on the road.
Excited doesn't even come close to describing how I feel.

It's hard to think about what you are going to really need.
3 months is a long time, but not that long.
Our book pile is growing rapidly
and I can't decide how many outfits we all need. hmmmm.

if you're wondering what's on my nightstand...
my Bible, journal/calender, morning yoga book, kindle, The Values Driven Family, Excellent Wife, Child Guidance, this years seed catalog, the kids character story books.
...and yeah, they will be coming with me. {grin}

We're cleaning out all the food from the fridge and cabinets
and I'm wondering how often we are going to need
to go grocery shopping with our tiny RV fridge.
At least we'll have a big pantry!

I'm a bit nervous about leaving the cats.
We have a cat shop on the farm
with huge hay bales & heating pads to keep them warm
and more than enough food.
but... I'm still nervous.
They're part of our family
and we don't want anything to happen to them.

I have finally started a photography blog.
I'll be sharing most of my photography sessions on there.
I don't have much on there yet, I need to catch up... big time!
check it out and let me know what you think! {grin}

All of you who filled out the Contact Us form
regarding the photography shoots & visiting
look for a reply from me within the next few days

I have received quite a few questions about our trip.
So I thought I would put together a You Asked It post.
If you have a question you can leave it in the comments here
and I'll add it to the post.

I better get back to packing while the house is quiet and calm!
Goodnight friends!

  1. Your road trip sounds amazing!  What an awesome experience to share with your children :)

What do you children keep themselves busy with while you are on the road driving?  Do you have a TV in the van?

How are you feeling? I've been praying (as a baby loss mom) for you to have peace about your loss and a return to feeling as well as possibl, as soon as possible.  Enjoy your journey!

  4. When you grocery shop on the road, do you buy a few planned out meals at the time? Do you have leftovers or do you try not to have leftovers? How many meals can you keep on hand at a time? What staples do you keep on hand? I must be hungry!!
