  2. okay...I read in your "Ask it" post about how you make your pics huge...and seriously I tried & tried...I don't see the "S400" number under the html...any idea what I'm doing wrong?

  3. so sweet! He sounds so much like my 4.5 year old, Isaac. Isaac broke his arm (elbow) Monday at Bible school. While he told the nurse it was a 6 on the pain scale, I haven't seen him cry about his either! Tough boys :)

  6. I love hearing about your boys. You talk about Eliza and Nolia a lot (and who wouldn't! They are too cute!) and Ozzie (also adorable!) but not the older boys. Gavin seems like a GREAT kid!

  17. Very cute! Every time I look at your blog I expect to see babywearing 101, but I don't! Wasn't too excited since I am just a teen myself, but now I am dying to see it!

  18. Poor Gavin! My Anya has the same fracture on her right arm - she went to jump off a swing and lost her balance and fell backward and fractured her arm trying to "break" her fall. She had a new cast put on Monday and it is water proof - so it's all good now - she can swim again. ;)

Hoping your little man will heal quickly!

  21. Oh and the photo thing- I did find s400 on the html page of my blog, tried playing around with it... NO difference. But I have the most basic blogger account. So I am wondering if its even possible to make any changes unless I have an upgraded 2-column/3-column blogger account.

  38. Ooh, as for the to-cast-or-not debate:

When I was 12, I broke the growth plate in my foot. Or fractured it. Or something, I don't really remember. Anyway, they casted it, it healed, and they called it a day.

But it never felt quite right and a year later, I was back in the x-ray room while they took a look at things. This time, they referred my parents to a pediatric podiatrist. The guy had foot-shaped business cards, how cool is that?! Lol. Anyway, he had this theory that the best thing to do was to maybe splint it and get a person to use the foot again, that the foot had to heal under pressure to be fully effective.

So they re-broke/fractured the growth plate (OW!) and set me up in running shoes that had extra support in that area of my foot and then just had me walk around on it. I've never had a problem since.

A few years ago, I fractured my wrist. The doctor wanted to cast it, but I remembered the podiatrist and I asked if it was possible to just splint it and have me use it so that it continued to strengthen and heal during use.

Best choice I've ever made. The doctor told me I'd probably have lasting problems from that fracture, but I've found that whenever I do have problems (like if I fall down on it), it is best and most quickly healed when I use it. The last time I fell down on it, I was worried that I'd fractured it again, so I consulted the doctor about it. He said that he never thought he'd ever say this, but he thought my splint idea might have been one of my better choices because although the fall should have re-fractured that area of my wrist, instead it was fine, the area of my bone was just in pain because it was stressed.

So there's my first-hand experience with the splint and use it philosophy. Obviously it doesn't work for everyone, but I hope it helps =) Good luck!

  50. He's gorgeous; inside and out. I'm amused that you are younger than I am, your 3rd is the same age as my oldest and you have twice as many children as I have, and you seem so calm, cool and collected. You really do! Have a great trip!
