What happened to 5

As I spend more and more time sitting on the couch I have been able to enjoy feeling the babies move a lot more than when you're up and active. Day and day again I am marvled at the idea that there are TWO babies in my belly. Two growing babies that have already started to bond... seeing each other through the practically invisible membrane that keeps them safely untangled, catching each others gaze and study each others faces not knowing that it is a separate being they are looking at. They reach for each other and poke, push & grab each others bodies as they float around inside of me. I am SO EXCITED that God is blessing us with 2 babies... it's more than I could have imagined.

So what's this have to do with 5... well... it's the fact that we will NEVER have 5 children. We will never have 5 sons OR 1 daughter. We will never be a family of 7. Before getting preggo we had talked and thought through the idea of having 5 children. We didn't think that 5 was THE number or our perfect place. We just knew we wanted to add another child to our family and that would be 5 kids. 5 Little boys or 4 boys and a little girl (although that seemed highly unlikely) *grin*. 5 children would fill one hand... no more... no less. But now there are SIX... and we are THRILLED... it's just the thoughts that we will never be 5 /7. We will forever be 6/8 or more. It is such an amazing blessing that so few are able to experience and I am SO OVER JOYED that God chose to bless us with this amazing gift.

oh the thoughts you ponder while sitting on the couch. *grin*

couldn't resist posting this picture of Z... he's been spending a lot of 'couch time' with me and most of it is spent being goofy.

  1. Wow - I came upon your blog through a friend of a friend and I think I have just been totally mesmerized by the grace with which you handle your large, getting larger, family. I felt like a cyber-stalker without at least saying hello. :)

  2. I hadn't thought of that before but it's true! You're skipping 5... But what a wonderful way to do that!

I am an overthinker :) I'm not sure couch-rest would be good for my mental health! ;)

Ozzy is just too cute. I bet he's loving all the Mommy time!

  4. Wow, I don't know why this struck me so hard but when I saw your subject heading, my eyes welled up with tears. I guess it just goes to show that sometimes when we ask for blessing, God likes to double the asking...cuz that's just how he is...

  11. Nice Familia, and WOW! 6 kids... How do you do it?

What does your husband do for a living?

How can toy afford 6 kids, a house, bills, etc, etc?

I would like to have that many kids but I don't know if I should. Everything is SO expensive nowadays.

    :)

You look pretty pregnant by the way ;)

  15. God does everything with a purpose. And with His purpose is His perfection.

To give you a smile though....my own baby (who will be 2 years old tomorrow) has just come next to me, looked at Ozzie and said "baby!" and is now dancing to your music. Too cute!!

  21. I feel you on never being a family of (insert number here). I will never know what it is like to have just one child, or three...but I guess the only odd number that I really like is 13...and we won't ever get to that number, so I am comfortable with creeping along, adding 2 at a time to my family! :)
Hope you are having a relaxing and blessed Father's Day! Keep growing babies! It will go quickly, I promise!!!

  24. Love this post. Things that this will make you think. We are a family of five (2 in heaven, 1 at home) and so far I don't know what it's like to have more than 1 at home yet I don't feel like Jericho an only child, then again I probably feel like that because she's not.

Blessings on your family of 6!
