The obvious and not so obvious

Apparently keeping up with blogging AND preparing for our family of 8 to leave on our big summer road trip...is too much for me.

If you follow along on twitter, you will know that we did in fact began our big adventure yesterday. It was a week late, a different tow vehicle and rearranged plans...but thats okay. At least tonight I am blogging from the couch in our rv, while its moving. (grin)

We only made it to minnesota today. Taking it slow... Meeting up with a dear blog friend, her absolutely wonderful family and a friend of hers that reads my blog but had never said hello before. :) And stopping at ikea, for the first time in 10 years. Good times!

As expected we already had our first "hiccup". Apparently a rock flew up and broke the drain valve off of our fresh water take...can you see where this is going? We arrived last night with no water left in our tank. It was an easy fix, in the home depot parking lot, where our blog friends came and found us. Then I did the dishes and flushed the toilet as we followed them to the park.

We stocked the pantry yesterday. Well... actually "stuffed" the pantry, fridge and under bed storage is a more accurate description. I tried to get everything we would need for a month except fresh food which we are hoping to find farmers markets and road side stands along the way.

We left all our pets at home with grandma and grandpa. Miss them already but it is nice too not have the extra responsibility on the road.

Its almost midnight and we just stopped for the night. Glad I was able to sneak a few moments to write.

Can't wait to share more with you tommorrow! Talk to you soon friends!

  1. What do you do for car seats in an RV? I thought there really is no safe place for them? Maybe I am mistaken.

  7. Praying for safe travels and minimal 'hiccups'! But, I'm beginning to understand that flexibility is the name of the game. You gotta roll with the punches (i think i just plagerized a country song). Anyway, Wish that I was going to be in the path of you big road adventure. Regardless, I enjoy praying for each one of you by name. BTW. LOVE the Medjool Date over quinoa and the granola! THanks for the share!

Bummer!  I live in Minneapolis and we were just at Ikea last night.  What fun it would have been (for me anyway) to run into you.  :)

  10. If you are in Southwest Mn tomorrow, we have a wonderful "farmers market" open from 11-6ish.....they are actually having a wind turbine commissioning ceremony, so may be open later. Carver, MN to be exact, at the Mustard Seed....Google maps will help you find your way! Lots of fresh fruit, some veggies....lots of canned goodness too. Have a great trip!
