when you take pictures of your SIX children

You tell yourself it is going to be simple.

You don't worry about matching clothes...
You fully accept that your youngest son is wearing a vintage GI Joe shirt...
And that their colors clash.

You tell everyone it's going to be quick!
Just look at mom for 1 minute!
And most of them do... for 1 second.

You are okay that your baby girls are eating grass... vitamins and minerals right!?

You did fail to realize that you were asking them to look at you AND into the sun.
But that's okay!

Because Mom just wanted a picture of her 6 awesome children!
with silly faces
dirty hands
wild hair
and all!

After all... staged photographs are over rated!

Capturing real life is what savors the real emotions!

  3. absolutely :)
    very cute.
u should try sitting them in some shade next time. If its light enough outside the shade works great! most of my shoots I put people in shade :)

  5. Love it Brittany! I was thinking of you the other night as we sat down for dinner. I love having 3 kiddos at the table and I can emagine how amazing it must be with 6 :) But I really do need to see your dinning room table and how you guys eat at night. Have you ever posted about that?

  9. Too cute.

MckMama has nothing on you with MANY small children. LOL

Between you and her.... I will stick with my many small children of 2. HA!

  10. I am one of 8 kids, so I know how challenging this is, my poor mother :)
Now that we are grown, it's fun to look back at our group photos (not that there are a ton of them), because someone was always doing something goofy, and our clothes NEVER matched.
These are the pictures you will cherish one day, so keep snapping them when you can.

    Cute pictures.

  23. I'm so with you on that one. We have four boys and one girl..soon to be two. You're lucky enough to get them to all at looking at the camera at once much less the clothes matching and smiles on their face. :)

  24. I fully agree! I think it's great to see their personalities shine through! I can hardly manage taking pictures with just my 2, kudos to you for even getting all 6 in the pic!

  25. I think then that you might get a chuckle out of this:

at least I can get the older four to cooperate:

  26. very cute! I can relate with trying to capture them all smiling and standing still. I only have 5 and it's quite the challenge. Keeping it real though is a great thing!

  27. I hear you! Six kids, posed?, maybe in their sleep!

  29. We tried to take my daughter and my 2 nephews for pics last week and none of them turned out!

  30. So overrated!!!!! :) I just adore your attitude!

  31. I totally agree with your comment on overrated staged photos. I only have 3 kids, but I much prefer the candid shots of them. Those are the ones that I have framed and scattered throughout my house. I'm also totally with you on the vitamins and minerals from eating grass. I once let my youngest eat ice off the driveway. I figured he was happy...I was happy... :)

Thanks for joining up to follow my blog.

  32. Question.
You use to have music on your site and I really enjoyed it....great taste in tunes. Wondering what music you have your kids listen to and what their favs are. Mine are huge fans of GO FISH and jazz music.
I think you should do a post on music.

  33. That last line says it all. These are wonderful! : )

  34. I was just thinking about how I was going to take my kids' photos this year (I only have 4). I guess I just need to keep it simple.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think u need to send it at&t for there ads with the bars since the kids range short to tall like there comericals.

    ReplyDelete
  36. totally the way to look at it!

  37. Great pics- looks like when the girls can stand you'll have the "stairstep" look. I was the oldest of 5, and we started a tradition of Christmas stairstep photos, then as we got older and taller, we'd do one photo in order of height and one in order of age each year.

  38. oh my! these are so great! I love the second to last one where they are all looking here there and everywhere!

  39. Brittany, I love them!!! Thumbs up to the overated part.

  40. That was a great post, yes I have many pictures where one child is always "off" so to speak. That was so cute the way you described each photo and not too much writing....that is what I like since i try to read so many posts.

  41. Heeheee! Your first "mistake" was thinking it would be simple! 6 kids all looking at the camera at once? Dream on!

Seriously though, I love the candid shots! They make me smile! Your kids are absolutely adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Do you have photoshop?
I don't...but the lady that took our family pics does and said that she can switch heads...lol...and did to make some of our group shots work! crazy!!

  43. These pictures of your kids are so cute!

Grayson in the 2nd to the last! : )
    I've had that reaction before.
"Mom, it's toooooo bright, are we done now?!"

Good for them for staying in place for you though!
