thumb love...

There is defiantly some serious thumb love going on around here... I know there are many of you who disagree that the thumb rocks {grin} but I think it's perfect and I am beyond thrilled that both of our girls are now thumb suckers too!

my beautiful Noli...

Look at that adorable little face and hands... oh my!

See her little arm in hoop trick {grin}... that's the secret to a perfect thumb sucking experience!

No seriously... it's the secret to a perfect thumb sucking experience!
first comes the thumb and then comes the blankie, ahhh, something to hold on to!
that way when it's time to be done with the thumb, you just say farewell to the blankie and all is good. It's worked for us {so far}. I just picked out the most beautiful raspberry silky soft blankies for the girls last week. That is the one side of thumb sucking that I do encourage... but my babes have all found their thumb all on their own. I swear it's in the DNA... Nolia {baby B} was sucking her thumb numerous times on the ultrasound, as was i when my mama saw me on the ultrasound. I was starting to wonder if they would be thumb suckers though because it took them longer than it took the boys. But they did it... it's just so natural there is no holding it back.
and another reason i'm lovin' the thumb besides the sheer adorableness... Nolia is sleeping through the night now that she has her chubby little thumby!

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
on another note...
my head is pounding {dang cake I ate yesterday}
i need to make dinner still
i'm REALLY tired
and it's only Monday!!!

peace out...

  2. I think thumb-suckers are adorable, but my in-the-dental-field mother worked hard to prevent us from sucking our thumbs and for that I'm thankful.

  5. I was a thumb sucker (AHH I still remember how wonderful it felt) and both my girls are too. I swear when they were TINY babies they were trying to get their thumbs in their mouths! One quit recently using a thumbguard....(it really did work) Just google it for anyone that is looking to help their child quit. My daughter was 7(GASP) when she stopped...still working on the other child... SIGH....

  6. So sweet, what a little cutie!! We have one avid thumb sucker and love it (can't drop a thumb on the ground we figure). We are wondering if the little guy will start...just wait and see what happens.

    Hope your head starts feeling better soon!!

  7. First of all--your girls are ADORABLE. Second of all--when I'm trekking in to my son's room 3 times overnight to give him a paci, I wish he took his thumb. ;)

  20. My little man is a hardcore thumb sucker and he's got his little blankies too. Once I realized he was hooked on a blankie I went out and got another one for back up. My four year old still has two and it saves our life! Anyway, I see nothing wrong with thumbsucking, I just wish my 8 month old was anywhere near sleeping through the night!

  21. That is so precious. All of mine have been "passy kids." I swear in the middle of the night, when I have to get up and get a passy that has fallen out of the crib, or when it has fallen out of the mouth and they can't find it in the dark, I wished they would suck their thumbs. Ahh, and one sleeping through the night...Macey is almost two and she still wakes up, and I have to go crawling on my hands and knees, under the crib, to find that fallen passy. You're lucky;)

  22. Those thumb-sucking photos are just darling! And I have to say, I had a two-fingered sucker who was attached to a stuffed dog (random, I know. His almost 3 year old sister bought it for him when he was almost 1 with her own money and he totally attached to it instantly) and a thumb-sucker who was attached to a blankie and they both stopped sucking them when their dog/blankie were taken from them. So I stand behind your theory! It was true for us. =0)

  24. I'm so with you on the thumb sucking. My kids have only done it for like a week and then stopped. I was really sad. I love thumb sucking. When I was a babe I used to suck my middle finger and ring finger together while holding onto my tasseled blanket, twirling my hair...does that count?

  25. when my daughter started sucking her thumb--it was the best thing that ever happened to me--self soothing ROCKS!!!

  26. Non of my threee ever sucked their thumb...funny :)

    My oldest loved his bear blanket thing, My middle loved his binky,
    My daughter...nothing!

    Strange how that works out.

  27. I'm confused...when they are done you take away the blankie or are you saying they just stop needing the lovie(blankie)too? My Travis is attached to a blankie but only for day and night sleep....doesnt need it to go with him any where but it is pretty sweet that when we are upstairs and his blankie is in reach he will grab it and crawl around with it and take little breaks and lay on it. Enjoyed my stop over her as always. Take it easy. ML

  28. I completely agree. My one child who sucked his thumb was the BEST sleeper. He slept through the night by 10 weeks. Awesome. And it is just the most natural thing in the world. AND it is so stinking adorable!!!!!
    I love it!
    Those pictures are precious. :)

  31. It is adorable! My twin boys are thumb suckers too! My twin girls are finger suckers (one sucks 2 fingers, ones ucks three.) But my singletons were never sucking anything. Go figure. It does make it much easier (especially with multiples) when they can self-soothe a little!

  32. I LOVE thumb suckers too! My first too were thumb suckers and the next 3 took pacifiers..UGH!! I hate those things. My sixth is now 8 weeks old tomorrow and still no thumb. :( She's found it one time and I think that was on accident! HA! Oooo I hope she finds it permanently...well, for a few years at least. Nolia and Eliza are adorable!!

  34. well they are definitely cute. My kids didn't do pacifiers or thumbs...strange little beings. I would totally prefer the thumb so cute.

  35. So darling! I LOVE it!!! One of my 6 month old twin boys sucks his thumb, but the other won't. My thumb sucker sleeps better at night as well.
