THE cake...

It was supposed to Apple cake... we renamed it Crapple cake!

All seemed well, Ozzie was excited to blow out his candles
the boys were gripping their plate and fork in anticipation

The big boys all took a bite and I WISH I hadn't been paying so much attention to Ozzie at the moment because he wasn't eating yet and the boys were making some truly beautiful faces as they chewed up their bite of cake.

Even after being warned Ozzie had to dive in and stuff a HUGE chunk of cake into his mouth...

he started to chew, and then just stopped and held it there for a second...

then he did this...

We were ALL cracking up, it WAS quite funny. No one was upset that their was no cake to eat. It will make for wonderful memories.

What happened you ask?
Well...

See I made eggplant lasanga and was starting to make the cake when Paul came down with the girls.
I asked him...
"do you want to keep holding them until they fuss, or would you like to make the cake?"
"I'll make the cake" he said
So, I took the girls and sat in down in the kitchen to feed them while he made the cake.
It was a kids cookbook, my intention was to have the boys help make the cake but time time time was not on our side AGAIN.
Paul and I were talking, I was feeding the babies, he was making the cake and all was well.
However, it seems that somewhere along the way, Paul missed a step and then used baking soda instead of baking powder.

It smelled good while it was cooking, but taste, ack! It was horrible! {grin}
Oh well, it was fun!

  7. That is so funny! I love the picture of Ozzie spitting out the cake! I made chocolate chip cookies a few days ago and used baking powder because I was out of baking soda. I read online that you can do that BUT I also should have left out the salt. My husband (who is cookie deprived) has been eating the very salty and hard cookies anyway! Yuck!

  12. Oh no! Sadly we have made that mistake a couple times this holiday season with cookie baking (or, I should say my teenage daughter has) makes for a pretty cookie, but not so yummy. LOL
