what the doc said...

from weekly OB and Peri to weekly Chiropractor... YIPPPPEEEEE! But now it's a family adventure since I have to be chauffeured around now. {grin} Now for what Dr. Jen said...
My fractured sternum is healing... I did not rebreak it again this week and it was only minorly moved from our last appointment
My fractured ribs were not as happy this week however... they are quite askew. They have been very painful lately, causing me to lean to the left because otherwise it felt like they were poking my organs. She realigned them {oooowwwwww} and then they popped back, so she moved them again, and again, and again, basically they are not very willing to stay in place right now. We'll see how they're doing next week...
She was able to lay me down using an upright table and then laying it semi flat. It wasn't the most comfortable but it did allow her to adjust my neck, clavicle, shoulders and realign my pelvis. It has been so long since I've laid down it felt like my feet were way up in the air. Weird!
She used the activator on my back, hips and ribs again while standing... trying to get my back into somewhat of a better place. My entire thoracic spine is out but she is unable to adjust it because of my ribs. My ribs were also way out of whack in the back as well. So weird feeling.
My sprained thumb/wrist are feeling better and my knee isn't sore anymore. Most of my bruising has amazingly faded. My knee still has a big bruise but my shoulder bruise is almost gone, I'm really surprised, it was HUGE and very dark.
My glands are swollen and my throat hurts now... it's because I can't clear my throat, blow my nose, sneeze, ect. I feel like I'm on the verge of getting sick. Keep that water going down!
My stomach is still swollen, I finally just today got an ice pack that I had ordered. It's large enough to cover my whole stomach. I'm supposed to alternate hot, cold 15 min each up to once an hour to help with the swelling. My chest is still swollen too.
As for my 'RULES'...
no laying down
no leaning forward
no pushing stroller, cart, ect.
no lifting anything
no pulling
no babywearing {wahhhhhhhhhhhhhh}
turning my head to the right or left will shift my ribs so I'm supposed to limit that.
basically I should do NOTHING! HA!
She did say I could hold the babies... obviously... because I wouldn't not do that even if it hurt like heck!
so it's long and slow we go... I've never had any broken bones before and now I have 4!
I'm still not sleeping... it's becoming quite a problem... we're looking into getting a new bed, one that can be raised up so I can sleep sitting up. Pillows just aren't working anymore.
me... blah blah blah... poor beat up me....
girly pictures tomorrow!!! {grin}

  1. I'm so sorry about all this, this is not the way a brand new (again) Mommy should be enjoying the first few weeks (dare I say months). You should check into renting a medical bed so you don't have to spend money on something that you may not need permanently. There's quite a few things that you can rent to make life a little easier while you are recovering. I had to set my Dad up with tons of stuff when he broke his pelvis last year.

  4. It stinks doesn't it. I remember oh so vividly when you talk about it. I hated going to the chiroprator and even the massage therapist after the baby/car accident (on the way home) because it hurt so bad. I remember my husband saying something to the effect of, "it's a massage, why are you complaining" but it did not feel good that is for sure.
Are you doing ok with the breastfeeding? It must be hard to latch two babies with broken ribs and so much pain. I hope it is going ok. Email me if you get a chance. Mashelhall@comcast.net. You are in my prayers.

  9. Brittany, you have been on my mind all day today. I am so sorry you have to go through this. You sound really good in words but I know it must be really hard emotionally and physically at home. My heart aches for you and I am praying for you.

  10. Oh at least you are able to hold those sweet bundles.

I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. You are stronger than me though. I would probably be having a constant pity party and would be a puddle on the floor. (not laying down of course! HA!)

Prayers for your continued healing and that you can get some sleep.

  14. Ahhhhh!!!! I am doing the silent scream for you right now (hands on my face, mouth open). I just can't stand it! I can't imagine what you are going through. How do you manage to still sound so upbeat? It is amazing to me. I think I would be DEPRESSED with all the pain. You are just seriously amazing.

Glad there are some parts of you that are healing. And I'll continue to pray for the rest of you to heal quickly.

    Thank God for the chiro!

  15. Been thinking of you and your recovery and hoping it is going well. ={ Obviously not as well as you would like, but hopefully you will continue to heal and feel better and stronger and more able to do all the things you want to do (and things a lot of us take for granted!).

Sending hugs and speedy recovery vibes! =)

  16. Owwww!

You are one hurtin' unit. It's a good thing you have a good chiropractor who knows what she's doing. Those girls of yours are so adorable. I love the entangled legs photo.

Speaking of the boys...how are they doing with the "little girls" of the house now?

  22. Just from a practical standpoint, please tell us that either insurance is covering everything or that you have found a good lawyer. At the very least, you should be compensated for all the medical care, if not your pain & suffering as well. Maybe the doc could write you a Rx for renting the bed?

  29. Please don't feel like you are trying anyone's patience, Brittany. Recovering from birth is enough, but you're having to deal with these major injuries, as well. You have a wonderful attitude, and it shows through the pain. Continuing to pray for you.

I hope you're not paying a DIME for your chiro, a new bed or ANYTHING else! Insurance should cover it all. Did you find a good lawyer yet?
