  24. FYI, my OB wanted to do the FFN test every 2 weeks until she was ready for me to deliver. If there is time that your OB might want another FFN test, you may want to think through the steroid decision now that you have a few days without it looming over your head. Take a deep breath and be rational while you have the opportunity.

If you have been happy with your OB for the past 7 years, maybe you should give some serious weight to her treatment recommendations.

Having said that, I am not missing the awesomeness of your negative result! HOORAY! What a RELIEF!

  25. I'm so glad your babies tested negative, but I'm very concerned about your doctor's tactics. Even though you are at the end of your pregnancy, it might be best for you to switch docs. She had no right to bully you into anything.

If you phone around to your local midwives, they would probably be able to refer you to a much better doctor.

    Best to you!

  26. PRAISE THE LORD! I prayed for you this morning & couldn't wait to hear the great results...SOUNDS "POSITIVE" TO ME!

  27. I'm pleased for you that your test was negative...

I learned, whilst undergoing ivf treatment, (which I started at age 35 and am now 40) that you should only concern yourself with what is right in front of you. Because none of us ever know what is actually going to happen from one minute to the next, "worrying" is utterly pointless.
Now, of course I can very easily say this sitting here. But I have had my fair share of 'situations' and it really is very good advice...just do and concern yourself with what you have to right now. Otherwise 'worrying' can just spin your mind out of control.
As an example as soon as my doc told us we were having twins he said about 200 things to us but being told it's more common to have a caesarean delivery seems to have stuck in my mind. I actually said to him and my husband (who seemed ready to make the booking-me at 7 weeks mind you-) that I would just do one appointment at a time and if issues were raised then I would deal with them then and I vowed not to spend my entire pregnancy concerning myself over all the things that may never happen :)

I'm NOT saying you strike me as a huge worrier or anything like that...I guesss Ijust hope you have had a massive breath OUT and enjoy your day

I'm really glad for you all :):)

  31. Congratulations! I had to have two rounds of steroid shots. My cervix was 1cm at 23 weeks (when I had the 1st shot) and then 1/2 cm at 24 weeks with my twins. I had my second round at 31 weeks since I had had the first round so early. I wasn't told there were any risks and I don't remember signing anything. At 24 weeks I was sent 2 hours from home to a university hospital for bed rest. When my water broke at 26 weeks I had a positive FFN, but I didn't deliver until 33 weeks, 5 days. Anyway, if I had researched the steroid shots like you did I probably wouldn't have had the 2nd one! By the way, my twins did great (no breathing problems-they're 2 1/2 years now).

  32. Hey Brit,

Haven't read the blog all week, but sounds like its been a tough one at your house. Sorry you had all that drama, but I am glad the test was negative. I am praying for all of you. I hope it goes quickly for you. I guess Dad and Cole are on their way so I don't know if sending one more man and little boy your way will be helpful or not but hopefully:) Cole is very excited to see his cousins. I so would have come with if Brilyn didn't have surgery today. See blog for more on this.....

    Love ya,

    Aaron, Karen & Brilyn

  35. Congratulations on the negative result! I guess it just goes to show that sometimes we know our own body better than the doctors think we do. And if it's any consolation on the bedrest, I've been laid up for 13 weeks so far, and hope (for the sake of my twins) we have another 13 to go. It's not easy...but will be SOOOO worth it in the end!

  39. Glad for the negative results. I know that steroids are a nasty thing. My asthmatic daughter has been on them many times and they are a necessary evil. I just wish I could find something else to treat her flare ups that wouldn't tax her body so badly.
You do great by researching before you accept treatment. Your babies will thank you someday. Also, don't feel too rejected by your doctor. They have a high stress job with lots of liability and they are probably just trying to cover their behinds at this point. It probably was hard to hear though. Hang in there and the newest pics of Ozzie are wonderful. What a cute little face he has. :)
