You asked it... part IV

I have to say.... it's a little long. I didn't even answer all your questions... sorry... I shouldn't have taken so long. I didn't realize how many questions were adding up.
I get so many questions on emails and comments and this seemed like the best way to answer... but do you all like these? Are they just silly? I feel like i'm just talking about myself. Hmmm... I guess I am. Really.... should I continue the 'you asked it series'?

If you miss part I, II or III... you can view them all here

NOW.... on to the fun part!

Q:
How are you using cloth diapers now that you're on bedrest?
A: Well... we're not. I'm so bummed. I knew it just wasn't going to work though. So we went through our stash of bum genius diapers, washed them and put them away for a little while. We're using huggies now and probably will until the babies come.

Q: How do you stay so small when your pregnant? Do you work out?
A: Ha! my work out is chasing these boys around. I know you don't believe me but I do gain weight everywhere... especially my legs. It's annoying but worth it. When I wasn't on bedrest we went on walks and family bike rides. I would love to have a workout routine but I don't have a place nearby and oh yeah... the time... ha. Maybe one day.

Q: Do you know what the twins are yet?
A: NO... really... we don't know. I have honestly felt very at peace about it so far. We'll see how anxious I get towards the end. I just have to give it all over to God. He is blessing us with the PERFECT family and I trust in him. He knows my heart.

Q: Can you tell who is kicking... baby A.... baby b?
A: For the most part I can tell... but there is gray area in the middle where I am not quite sure. After an ultrasound when I can see their exact position it's a lot easier but they move A LOT. they are quite the little movers. I feel like my belly is a jello jiggler sometimes. ha! I LOVE LOVE LOVE feeling them move around. It is probably my favorite part of being preggo. It's just amazing.

Q:
I thought I saw your little guy wearing a bum genius cloth diaper. Are you planning on using cloth with the twins.
A: Most defiantly yes... we'll be using bum genius diapers for the twins. I can not imagine how many diapers we'd have to buy and throw away with twins. holy cow!

Q: What 'type' of twins are you having?
A: We are having identical twins, they share a sac with a membrane. (they did think in the beginning that there was no membrane separating them) There is only one placenta which they share. This is why they are at risk for twin to twin transfusion. Which is when one baby gets more than the other. They were slightly worried at one time that baby B had more fluid and was 1 oz. bigger but they have since checked out great and are growing identically.

Q:
What is a peri?
A: I am seeing my regular OB and a perineonatologist. A peri is a fetal development specialist. so my OB watches me and the babies and my peri just watches the babies development VERY closely. They are watching ours a little closer than others because they are identical and share a placenta.

Q:
So, do you think you could? Would? Homeschool, that is?
A: Absolutely yes... if God was leading me to homeschool the boys i would in a heart beat. It is something that has been on my mind for a long time and have been praying about over and over. So far the boys are planning at attending public school next year... however there is a small chance that we will do homeschool. It's still in prayer and still very open.

Q: What does your husband do for a living?
A: He is a self taught GENIUS... no really... he's way to smart. He can do just about anything and has an answer to everything. The last 8 years he has been a networking, security, engineering guru. Right now he is taking some time off of work and we are prayerfully considering a complete career change. It's funny how God puts things on your heart and the most unique times. We'll see where this venture leads us.

Q:
How can toy afford 6 kids, a house, bills, etc, etc?
A: Two words... GOD PROVIDES. We live in our modest first home that we have slowly filled with thrift store treasures and lots of babies. I am very 'thrifty' and very rarely buy anything new or full price. When people comment about how they can't afford to buy organics, health food, supplements and such I tell them we spend our money on that because we don't spend it on other things. With that said... kids ARE expensive but they are the only investment that last a lifetime.

Q:
Do you really not have a microwave? Why?
A: Really... we don't... and I NEVER want one. I NEVER miss it. Besides the fact that it is horrible for your health, it just isn't efficient for our family. We don't re-heat one plate... if we have leftovers it's a big pot full and if there are small amounts we just heat them up in the skillet. Super easy and much better for you. If you want to read more about why YOU shouldn't use a microwave read here.

Q: What type of camera do you use?
A: I have a Canon 20D... although I would LOVE a new 40D I am very happy to have the camera I do. My favorite lens is my 50mm f/1.4

Q: Can you give me the link to the dirty fruit and vegetables list.
A: Hmmmm... I can not seem to find it right now. Preggo brain. But I did find this list here.

Q: Are you going to have a C section?
A: I sure hope NOT... baby A is head down and my ob said she would deliver naturally even if baby B wasn't head down, although I hope baby B turns. As long as baby A is head down and baby B isn't bigger than baby A we're a go for natural delivery. It's definitely something I keep praying out.... I do not want a csec.

Q: What I want to know is what do YOU think the babies will be? Do you have any feelings one way or the other?
A: Hmmmm... Deep down I feel like God is blessing us with 2 little girls. The moment we found out they were twins I just had this overwhelming sense they were little girls. I keep praying that if the Devil is putting these thoughts in my mind so that I will be disappointed with little boys that God would take that away. That he would take away my/our desire for little girls and fill my mind and heart with thoughts of 2 new little boys. After months of praying I still feel that they are girls... that is one of the big reasons that we are not finding out. I trust and believe in God and know he is giving us his perfect gift and I would hate to rush to 'know' just because I couldn't trust him. So... we'll see. Until then... they are just our wonderful babies, not boys or girls yet.

Q: I am curious - do people ask if you are having twins or do they just assume you are farther along than you are?
A: Oh my... I think most people just think i'm due anyday. But if they ask or comment I'll say it's twins. Most people are floored... especially when we're out as a family. Oh boy we're going to cause a big scene once these twins arrive.

Q: What products to you use in your hair?
A: I use Avalon organic shampoo and conditioner (and I only wash my hair once a week or sometimes longer) I also use potion 9 leave in conditioner. I know some people think it sounds gross but not washing my hair with shampoo everyday (I do take a shower and rinse it) has made a big difference. Our hair produces natural oils and if we are continually stripping them off our body produces more. It's an endless cycle. So once you adjust to only 'stripping' once a week your hair will be softer and not oily. I also only brush it once a week or so. I just run my fingers through it when I put the leave in conditioner in.

Q:
How did you and your husband choose the names for your children?
A: We wait until we see them... and then we look at names.... look at the baby... and wait until we find one that fits perfectly. When i'm preggo I do look at baby names and make lists BUT we've never used a name on the list.

Q: How did you get started with photography? And do you do it professionally?
A: I am a self -taught photographer but have always loved it. When our 3rd son was born and I bought my first DSLR I really found out how much I loved photography. I HAVE done it professionally but I am not pursuing that right now. I will again at some point but now it's the time.

Q:
did you grow up in a family that was very health-conscious? Or did this start as you were older?
A: Yes and No... we ate pretty typical but there were always veggies and fruit. When I was 12 I decided I wanted to become a vegetarian. I never really liked meat and never drank milk...even as a child. My parents were accommodating and slowly through the years they became much more health conscious. But it wasn't until I moved out and started my own family that I really became passionate about health and food. Now it's a daily thing. I hope my boys can grow up with a good head start on how to treat their bodies the way God intended.

  6. LOVE the question and answers!
    Keep 'em coming!

I also love to hear that you LOVE being pregnant. After personally having 2 difficult pregnancies, and knowing that I cannot carry any more children~ it is nice to hear women that don't complain about being pregnant! So thank you for that!

    Keep up the great job!

    Take Care!

  8. See!!! These are so fun when you're on the reading end. And time consuming when you're on the writing end. Yes, keep them coming.

BTW, I'm a once, sometimes twice, a week shampooer, too.

  9. I like the Q/A series, especially from someone as heath conscious as you. It really helps people like me who are learning how to eat/cook/think healthy. I hope to be the one teaching someday!

About washing your hair once a week. I've heard this before but I'm an athlete and when i work out (which isn't as often as I'd like anymore) I sweat. It would be hard not to wash my hair after I sweat. Plus, my hair is bone straight and stringy, I don't know if I could go without bushing it. Any suggestions?

I love that you guys don't pick names till you see the baby. My hubby and I are so opposite of that. We've always had a name before (but don't tell anyone till the baby is here incase we see the baby and decide it doesn't fit) So far the names the Lord has given us for each one have been perfect. We've always found out b/c of the problems I've had, I'm trying to talk hubby into it being a surprise next time around!

Can't wait to meet those 2 new loves of your (but not for a few more weeks!) Pray for you and your family.

  11. As different as we are....we also have a lot of similarities. I feel blessed to call you my friend. I love watching your children grow! I feel as though I've known them from day one. OK, some of them I have, but you know what I mean. I just wanted to send you some friend love that had nothing to do with babies, or questions, or anything else. :)

  12. I loved reading your answers! I was happy to see that you think you might be carrying little girls. My husband and I have always thought it would be cool to have four boys in a row and then have 'twin', 'identical' girls. If you had girls you'd have 'our' perfect family. Even though I understand whatever God gives you (and us) is going to be perfect. So I'll be excited for you if they are girls or boys. Anyway, loved all your answers- you inspire me to live more natural and healthy!I might even eventually try out the once-a-week hair washing thing. We'll see...have a great weekend! Take care of those precious babies!

i love that you're so natural & organic but feel like it would be impossible for me to truly switch over (we do organic fruits & veggies, natural meats) but i can't seem to train myself to eat healthy snacks and unprocessed foods!

  18. I'm sure people tell you this, and hopefully you aren't sick of hearing it . . . but you are so grounded for being so young. You are centered and seem so at peace. Such rare traits at any age.

Your faith is so very strong--you truly are inspiring.
