We're driving all day and there are only so many books to read, puzzles to build, card games to play, snacks to eat, songs to sing, jokes to tell and quite times to have.
Since I've been off-grid so much lately I thought it would be fun to chat a little with you while I have a
Phone signal and a little time.... you know, inbetween all I mentioned above. :)
If you just want to say hi or have a question you want to ask... I'll be around most of the day to answer in the comments.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Hope you guys are having a blast! ;)
ReplyDeleteI have one!!! My family and I are getting ready to live in an RV full time and with 4 young children (6,4,2 and 8 mos.). We also homeschool and homestead (1 Jersey cow, garden and 20 chickens). Any advice on how in the heck you cram all your food, clothing, homeschool books, etc. in an itty-bitty trailer with no washer? :)

...kelli... Good to hear from you again, I'm behind I had no idea you guys were going out on the road. Are you selling your house and animals? :)
ReplyDeleteWe have an amazingly large amount of storage, its just a matter of ease of access. :) if you look at the tour of our rig you can see where we store our books and games. We have more storage that you can't see in the pictures though. I don't like excess and try to keep our belongings minimal and important... So packing in the rv was easy... It was just a little less stuff. I have hardly missed anything from the farm house.
Our biggest restriction is body space... We bump into each other all the time. :)
How old are each of your kids now?
ReplyDeleteThey are: 11, 10, 8, 5, 3, 3.
ReplyDelete...and growing way too fast and way too big. :)
ReplyDeleteI posted a response but it didn't show up... Yet?
ReplyDeletemiss you... Can't wait to see you and catch up! Hope you are doing good.
Wow, I just found your blog. Looks like you guys are having an adventure. I look forward to reading/learning more. =)

I love your blog and love following along with your family!! How are the kids doing as you travel?
ReplyDeleteI mailed you years ago -literally- about advice on starting a blog, I started one (kept it private-more of a diary really) but I've followed you and your fabulous family ever since, just thought I'd say hi and tell you how much I enjoy following along with your adventures. I'm so glad your travels are going well, its something we talk about often but doubt we'll ever get to do, although never say never. Anyway I don't have a question just wanted to drop in a quick hello, I've been meaning to do so for a long time now and it just felt right to do so today!! Kate in Ireland x
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and saying hi Aidyl.
ReplyDeleteAre you guys on your way back home yet? What an adventure! Are you going to be headed back through MN again? Just wondering about the idea of ever getting a photo shoot worked out with you for my little family.
ReplyDeleteso glad to hear ya'll are doing OK and having a blast on your RV adventure!
ReplyDeleteThe kids are doing great... We've had our ups and downs but overall its been wonderful. The kids do really miss our cats though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for saying hi kate. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your blog :) Your family inspires me and it is so neat to see what the Lord is doing in and through your lives! I have a question actually :) I am a 21 year old wife and mama-to-be (Lord willing within the next three weeks) and have really been convicted by the Lord to lead a more natural life style and I was wondering what you would suggest for someone just starting out. We are taking steps but can't afford to go completely organic etc...Also I am cloth diapering my son and while I can't wait I am somewhat nervous about keeping up with it etc :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again for being such a blessing! :)
Hello from a long time reader (well, since the girls were born) and Tennessee! Love reading your blog and catching up with your family. Hope you are having a wonderful and safe trip. We bought our first RV last summer and plan on using it lots this summer.
ReplyDeleteSee which one of your boys can pronounce "Irish Wristwatch" the fastest.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy reading your blog! How much longer are you guys on the road? Will you be heading to MT in the near future? We live in WI now, but in April, we are moving there for my husband's job. If I remember correctly, you aren't too many states from there. :)
ReplyDeleteAw. You remember us. :) We were the horrible people that cancelled on you for your photo shoot here in Florida (Tampa Bay)...fire and loss of internet didn't help our communication. Oh well, maybe you'll be by our way another year.
ReplyDeleteWe are planning on moving to a piece of land and moving our animals with us. We'll live in the RV, save tons of money on bills (wanting to eventually become debt-free), but build an airconditioned barn first for animal feed and storage (extra fridge, etc. too since the RV fridges are oh, so small) and start a permaculture project on our farm property (praying the Lord points us to the right property). Then, as we save cash, we'll be building a home (solar, etc.) and selling homegrown fruits and veggies with a local raw milk co-op family we know and love. Big plans and an even bigger God who's leading us in this crazy journey. Anyway, we're finalizing paperwork on our own "rig" tomorrow. :)
Thanks for the advice. I'll post pictures once we get the beast delivered here. Have to get a new car (Excursion) to pull the bohemeth too! Lots of changes. Crazy changes, but all God-lead and exciting.
Blessings girl! ~Kelli
Thought I'd weigh in- my hubby & I have lived in a 28' RV for a little over a year now. We're currently stationary (not traveling), and working toward buying our dream piece of land. We don't have children (for another few months anyway), but we do have 5 cats (we're not crazy, but sometimes they drive us there!) Probably my biggest piece of advice for small-space living is that less really is more. I can’t believe how much stuff- just kitchen gadgets & what not that I thought were essential to every day life- I packed up and have never pulled back out of the boxes we have in storage. Books are the biggest challenge, they’re everywhere all the time…so have a game plan for those for sure. And one of my personal rules is that if I don’t absolutely love it, it goes.
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your new adventure! We love living in our tiny cozy house. :)
Thanks Shauna! Yeah, as we're preparing to move, I'm having a giddy ole time tossing things and trying to get down to bare minimums around here. It's so refreshing. I have awful luck with baking beaters. I always break them. Finally, I gave up and use a good old fashioned fork for mixing now. Tossing the kids' toys has been huge though, but black trash bags have helped...they can't see what I'm getting rid of! (I'm sly like that!) I'm getting nervous, but excited for our little adventure. What's life without a little adventure, right? Life is worth living, not clocking in from 9-5 every day of your life! We'll get there slowly but surely.
ReplyDeletea question....
ReplyDeletewhat do you think of doctors weight and height charts for children???
