hiccups = boys

Hmmmm.... a few weeks ago I mentioned to hubby that these babies haven't had hiccups. All 4 of the boys got hiccups on a regular basis and I would feel them like they were beating a drum inside of me. It was fun and cute. But the idea that these babies weren't having hiccups made me wonder if it was a 'sign' that they weren't boys.

See... when you don't find out you get to have fun with all those little signs and differences... wondering, pondering, delighting in little ideas. It's purely fun... I don't think any of those old wives tales or such make much sense. But.... WHAT ABOUT HICCUPS?

WELL... as of last week baby A & baby B are hiccuping away on a regular basis. A familiar and enjoyed feeling. BUT... do girls have hiccups too?

I guess we'll just have to wait a while longer since the hiccups aren't going to define anything. *grin* I AM carrying the same (except obviously larger), everything else feels the same too. 6 boys ehhhh?

so there's today random thoughts of a couch bound double baby baby mama

  1. I got to SEE my daughter having hiccups on an U/S onetime...that was pretty cool!

But not sure how the boy/girl hiccup ratio works out!

    But fun comparing!!!

    Keep up the amazing work!

  2. HAHAHA, this is cute.

Bugga was a hiccup-y dude if I remember correctly. It was fun!

Have you read the study that linked eating habits to gender?! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2008/04/23/scibaby123.xml

Interesting stuff huh?! On the surface I would say my experience fits in with the study--I've always been an avid breakfast eater and we have a boy. I hardly think my one experience is much basis for conclusion, but the study is interesting to me anyway.

I love hearing the comparisons and your descriptions of this twin pregnancy! Keep enjoying it! =)

  3. my little tulip hiccupped constantly...and she still does...especially when we get her laughing.

have you tried the needle & thread? circles = girls & back & forth = boys. of course, there are so many wive's tales out there and this one switched around for a friend of mine...but i've always heard it this way? :-)

    i had a circle and i had a girl. ;-)

i don't really beleive in that stuff...but it is just kinda fun for guessing's sake.

  4. I'm pretty sure boys and girls both hiccup. No gender thingy there, but I always did the Draino thing. I couldn't tell you if it's accurate or not- I've only had boys! =P Isn't the suspense killing you by now?!

  5. My little gal hiccuped all the time! In fact, she consistantly got the hiccups midmorning every day!

  6. I've heard that the hiccupping is actually to strengthen their lungs so they are ready to breath when they come out. So I'm guessing all babies do it. But seeing as how I've only had boys, I don't know.
All three of my pregnancies were different so every time I thought I was having a girl. We all know how that worked out. hehe :)
I would be dying from suspense if I were you!

  7. I definitely noticed an increase in hiccups with Micah. It felt like he had them all the time! Ella only had them once in a while. I'm not sure if that means anything?

  8. I've had two boys and two girls... and they all had hiccups during my pregnancies.

  9. Both of mine have had hiccups. But if I remember right my daughter had more. So you never know ;)

6 boys? sounds interesting & fun :) Will you keep going till there's a girl ?

  11. With Oceana - I gained 57lbs, had an allergic reaction, and she had hiccups.
With Joshua - I gained 35lbs, had no complications, and he had hiccups.

With both, I carried way out in front, very very low (looks like my basketball tummy is gonna FALL OFF).

Only difference was the weight, and I wasn't as sick with Joshua.

  12. Another thing that is kind of fun is the Chinese calendar that predicts the gender based on month of conception and the mother's age...it was right for both of my boys! I really admire you for waiting to find out! I think I will not find out if I have a third.

  13. I have two boys and I remember my first hiccuping a couple of times, but I don't remember my second hiccuping at all! Hmmmm! You'd think I would remember! :) I don't know about you, but "I" am dying to know what you are having!!!! :)))

  14. I've had two girls and both hiccuped a bunch in utero. Could be either I think!

  15. I've only have one, a girl, and she was a BIG hiccuper...my husband thought it was the coolest thing to watch my belly move with each hiccup.

I can't believe the suspense hasn't driven you nuts yet! :)

  16. My last girl had hiccups horribly inside of me and now that she is outside of me..she gets them ALL the time! My son and first daughter never had them in me that I noticed.

  17. I've never heard a wives tale about hiccups before. One of my boys had them and the other didn't so there you go!

  18. Sadly my girl pregnancy was so long ago now I can barely remember much although I know they all hiccuped. She was different for me because she was breech too plus I had nothing to compare to I suppose :) with all my boys I got a funny rash on my arms that I don't have this time, I'm doing the same as you and analysing it all (with a grain of salt of course)...my littlest ones are too tiny to be hiccuping that I know of yet... and the needle and thread thing that 'Elizabeth' was talking about, here it's done with your wedding ring tied to one of your hairs and over your belly or wrist...it's been right for all of mine so far ohhh spooky :):)

  24. All 3 of my kids had the hiccups all the time! 2 girls and one boy. Sometimes that was the only way people could feel them:)

  25. With my first pregnancy I felt the hiccups all the time and it was a boy. I hardly felt hiccups at all with my second pregnancy and it was a girl.

  28. Oh boy (or girl), I dunno. SOMEone in my tummy was definitely having hiccups too, but there was a boy and a girl in there, so who knows?

Love the pondering and can't wait to find out which babies will bless you.

  29. Hee Hee....I can't tell you if girls hiccup (although, I am fairly certain that they do) 'cause I can't seem to get pregnant with one! :-)

  30. You are too funny! Yes girls get hiccups too. My girls actually had them way more then the boys, since I have had two of each ;)

  31. Brilyn had more hiccups than Cole. But Cole had a LOT too so I don't think you can tell from that. But I know one way you could find out:)

  32. Girls definitely get the hiccups ! :o) (And I think you're having two little girls. :) )
I felt our daughter's hiccups at abut 15/16 weeks and she had them a lot more than our son.
( Funny thing is an ER intern acted like I was nuts when I asked about the hiccups being early in my pregnancy. He said babies don't get the hiccups in the womb---I thanked God he was not working with my regular OB ! )
Anyway, I think baby in the belly hiccups are the best. I miss it :)

  33. I can tell you that both my girls had hiccups to wa-zoo and I haven't had any with this pregnancy, and I'm 33 weeks already. I never find out what I'm having either, but I feel like its another girl anyway, just because I make girls so well :)

  34. I am not even close to having kids yet. Just planning the wedding . . . but I am leaning towards not knowing boy or girl prior to birth either and it seems like everyone (okay, the few friends I've talked about this with) think I'm crazy. It's fun to hear that you don't find out and the joys of it. Kelly

  35. Okey dokey, my thoughts even though you didn't ask me personally and I'm chimming in late. Fluid - I always had tons! The nurses for all my deliveries commented on how much I had coming outta me. Nice picture I know.

Hiccups - my girl had 'em the most. I don't think my first had them ever (boy) and my second only rarely (boy) - think anyway. :)

And of course, you're gorgeous! I don't care how much weight you've gained, you look mahvalous!
