Bedrest DAY ONE

Oh and what a day it was! I spent NO time in bed... but I did spend 'some' time on the couch. *grin* Paul came home Monday evening to feed the kids and get them ready for bed and then he headed back to work for the evening... er... whole night. He finally made it home at 7:30am. At which time I had been up for 2 1/2 hours. Gavin woke up extra early because he thought he heard dinosaurs (big thunderstorm). We laid on the couch and ate our berries, granola & coconut milk & drank our orange juice and minerals. It was very nice to spend some extra time with Gavin. Once Paul came home and went to bed, the boys all got up and we started our morning... slow style. My mom came over so I could go to my peri (fetal specialist) appointment and then my chiropractor. So I was gone ALL DAY. Once I got home I did lay on the couch for a quite a while until it was time for DINNER. I had this bright idea that I would have the boys make dinner with my direction while I was sitting in the kitchen with them. WELL... dinner did get made, it was good and no one was hurt. BUT... the kitchen was a complete disaster, Ozzie dumped half a bottle of turmeric into the spinach, red lentil and bean soup, I became quite stressed at the complete chaos in the kitchen and my inability to just get up and help them. We'll need a few more cooking lessons before this is a reliable source of dinner. Ha! I do love the boys helping in the kitchen... but I'm normally standing there guiding them, showing them and having fun. This was NOT fun. But we did have a nice meal to eat... and as you all know i'm sure... hungry children are not very fun. So after dinner I DID lay on the couch while Paul played with them a little and then put them all to bed. He also cleaned up the kitchen most of the way... it was a HUGE mess.

So day one not a huge disaster but we'll be trying for some better days for sure. *grin*

  2. You were trying Renee's technique! Sounds like it went a little better for her... :) If you ever are bored during your sit-on-the-couch time, I'd love your spinach soup recipe!

  6. You know....

It's refreshingly nice to hear how you are trying to make the best of what most would say is an incredibly difficult situation.

Most would be complaining TONS (I would most likely be lumped into that group); but thanks for the reminder to look on the brighter side. "Let us rejoice and be glad in it!" After all, God ordains everyday He gives us...He knows exactly what is going on and just how much we can handle.

Keep those boys cooking....by the time the babies get here, they'll be EXPERTS! :-)

  7. Oh, I know all about hungry children and how not fun that is! I try and keep a steady flow of food going to Judah ( and Daniel :) ) otherwise, it isn't pretty!

I'm praying for you all! I'll especially be praying that everyone will quickly settle into the new normal, and the hard days will be few and far between.

  12. While I don't have children, I do have a husband that I feel is my child! LOL He tries to help out in the kitchen, and I let him, but afterwards when I see the mess, I sometimes regret it! Men can be so messy while cooking; it is amazing.

Glad you are TRYING to rest. =)
