MICROWAVE popcorn could bring such bliss. See... we don't own a microwave, and do NOT want one. But the boys LOVE popcorn so I bought a few packets and let Gavin take one next door and use our neighbors microwave. Oh boy was he happy! I know we can make popcorn in a pan... but... yeah...
We finally found a hot air popcorn popper whose popping tub is not aluminum!! Very exciting for me, Miss aluminum-phobic! It's by Black and Decker and it's called "Handy Pop-n-Serve". I'm not sure if they are made anymore; ours came used. I thought about buying one more from Craigs list or ebay or something just to have a back up since I had such a hard time finding one!
ReplyDeleteWow! I don't know what I'd do without my microwave. Hats off to you for not having one!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I found your blog through my friend BillMissandBrood. I love your photography!
How do you heat up leftovers? I think that is cool that you could do that!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Brittany! My favorite pic is the last one. It's like he's holding a pot of gold. :)
ReplyDeleteI brought our old microwave with us when we moved in 4 weeks ago, but it is still sitting in the garage. I think it's time to officially cut the cord don't you? It's been almost 2 years since I used it on a regular basis.
As for the person who asked how to heat up leftovers I'll offer this suggestion: We use a toaster oven or there's a handy electric table top oven called an Aroma Oven that cuts the cooking time in half for regular baking and works well for heating things up.
I hadn't even thought about the aluminum in the base of our air popper. Yikes! I'll have to tell my husband. Aluminum is the one thing that he's very against having in our home.
It's the simple things in life that bring the most joy! Kudos to you for going sans-microwave. I've been using the stove more for a lot of stuff, but still, I need my microwave!
ReplyDeleteI love it! That little guy is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteI kinda feel that way about popcorn too!
ReplyDeleteDaniel and I make "pan" popcorn quite a few times during the week - I like it because I can eat A LOT of it and never feel guilty. :)
This picture series is priceless - he's going to love them when he gets older!

My husband would die without his microwave (to make his popcorn). I love the sunglasses!
ReplyDeleteLove those sunglasses!
ReplyDeleteWe use an air popper for our popcorn and my son loves it!! We have a microwave, but he prefers the "blower kind". Too cute!! Love the pics.
ReplyDeleteBrittany, I can't remember how I found my way here, but I love your blog. You keep it so well updated with all the pics!
I am sorry but did you just say "no microwave?" Wow, you amaze me more and more every day...
ReplyDeleteAluminum. Oh, great. Something else to think about . . .
ReplyDeleteYAY! No aluminum in my air popper. Woo hoo!
Love the last picture where you can see you taking the picture in his sunglasses.
ReplyDeleteDid you know you can pop popcorn on the stovetop?
ReplyDeleteYou can get Jiffy Pop or something like that, and do it over the burner. Or, just buy the popcorn kernals in a jar, and there's some way you can do it on the stove top. I think you can even just use a regular pan w/ a lid.
